Artist Statement
My name is Elizabeth Shewmaker and I am a sophomore at BVN. I took Digital Imaging freshman year and I really enjoyed that class so I decided to try out Photography 1 for another photography class. It was really cool to learn the process of a film camera even though it is a lot of work. My favorite project was probably the depth of field project because I took my pictures in Australia and they turned out great. Even though the film developing process can be a drag, it was really a great experience overall and I enjoyed the class over the course of the semester.

Creative Process:
I came up with ideas by thinking of places or things that would fit the topic of the project. To pick the picture for printing, I looked at which one was the best fit to the project, and I would also look at which ones I liked the best. I looked for inspiration in experiences Ive had and I also just looked at the places around me for inspiration for locations. My ideas got better over the sememter because later in the semester, I would know where to look for certain things and I also knew what I needed to take into consideration for a good outcome in a project.

Technical Process:
The only tools I really needed to make my ideas happen were, a camera, Photoshop, a place to take pictures, and sometimes a tripod. I was able to translate my ideas into works of art by taking my ideas and finding a location to make that happen and then I would enhance the photo using Photoshop. I grew a lot with using cameras and photoshop. For example, at the beginning of the semester, I had no idea how to use Photoshop and now I can do a lot more with it.

Reflection:
All my pictures are very intresting and unique. I think my photos show that I have unique ideas. I have developed a creative voice this semester by thinking of unique ideas for photos. I also think that the way I edit my photos has gotten way better over the semester. For me, I does not take very long to edit my photos. I think for me, it shouldnt take that much editing to make a photo the way I wanted it.
